Tezmo Motors was founded to put affordable electric vehicles into the markets that have been waiting longest for them. We are based in Lahore and sell across Punjab today.
The market we are building for
Electric transport is becoming prevalent in western countries, but few affordable options exist in the rest of the world. Our goal is to proliferate electric vehicles in emerging economies.
Public transport in Pakistan is patchy and expensive. There are no good options for subway or bus transport, so people mostly use auto rickshaws or motorcycle ride hailing. Motorcycles are inconvenient, particularly for women. Rickshaws are uncomfortable and cost a lot because of high petrol prices.
What we decided to do about it
Introduce an electric rickshaw in Pakistan that costs far less per kilometre. That allows drivers to charge less to customers, and with zero emissions it also has a great impact on the environment.
Pakistan has a population of 250 million, and auto rickshaws are one of its primary means of public transport. It is time this mode of transport went electric. Punjab is our proving ground; other emerging markets come next.
